Fair Isle Technique
To create this cross-line pattern, the “Fair Isle” technique is used here. It's a skill of knitting with yarns of two colors or more at the same time to create a colorful pattern.

Purse
(Color 1) CO 72 sts, divided onto 4 needles evenly (always use a working needle to knit)
Rnd 1: join the round, knit 1 rnd
Rnd 2: (Color 1 & 2) Download and follow the chart to knit. (The front and back is identical.)
To bind off, use Kitchener Stitch. Cut the white yarn (color 1) with a tail (3X length of the circle). Weave in the pink yarn (color 2) first. Then, start to connect the front and the back by Kitchener Stitch.
Flap
(Color 2) CO 33 sts
Row 1(WS): Purl
Row 2 (RS): Knit
Row 3-18: Repeat rows 1-2
Row 19 (WS): *k1, p1*, repeat* to create 1x1 rib
Row 20 (RS): *p1, k1*, repeat * before the center stitch (17th), YO, k2tog, repeat * again
Row 21: continue 1x1 rib
Row 22: Bind off.
Sew the flap on the backside of the purse with the pink yarn. (I steam-ironed the flap to make it flat.)
Lining
I used linen and cotton fabric for my coin purse here.
First, trace your finished knit purse on the fabric. Then, cut it out.
Put the fabric on the purse again, and fold it 0.5cm away from the opening of the purse.
Then, trace it again on the fabric. Cut it out. Now, we have the lining of the front side and backside.
Fold the top seam (0.5 cm) of the front side as below. And sew them together (right sides facing).
Insert it into the knit purse. Carefully match and pin all the seams together. Remember not to hide the buttonhole.
*Important: While matching the seams on the flap, try to close the flap to check the length of the lining. (The lining should be much shorter than the flap.)
Then, sew them together with invisible hand stitches.
After sewing a button onto it, it's finished and ready to use!
